Christopher was born in Taunton in 1917, the younger son of the Reverend John Noble Boughton and his wife Edith Emily Axford. His father was an army chaplain during the First World War. In 1935, he visited South America. His address on the manifest was The Vicarage Ilminster. He died in March 1940.
He went to Radley in 1931 from the Choir School.
The Radley records say “ He had a splendid voice & was a pleasant boy, sincere & useful but very quiet & reserved.
From Radley he went to the Army College in Farnham in preparation for Sandhurst.
Christopher was gazetted to the East Yorkshire Regiment on 28 January 1938.
He was a Major serving in Burma with the 1st Battalion of the East Yorkshires when he was killed on May 29th 1945.
He is buried in the Rangoon War Cemetery Plot 2 E 16.
The notice of his death was published in “The Statesmen” on 2 July 1945 described as “nephew of Brigadier E.J. Boughton”
He is commemorated in the Chapel of Remembrance, Sandhurst.
No College record has been found for him and it is thought that he may have been at the Choir School.
