Guy William Stuart was born in Chislehurst, Kent to Major Stuart Williams Morgan and his wife Annie Blanche Dutton. His mother died in November 1898.
In 1901, Guy was living with his father’s widowed mother, and an aunt, at the family home Bolgoed, Llanspyddid near Brecon. The Morgans had lived there since the 18th century, many of them having been Deputy Lieutenants of the County. In 1903, his grandmother died and by 1911, his widowed father was living in the house with several staff, whilst Guy was at Winchester College where he was a member of the OTC.
He came up to Christ Church in 1913 and played cricket for the College in the summer of 1914. At the outbreak of war, he joined the Royal Welch Fusiliers and was gazetted as a Second Lieutenant on 14 November 1914, having been a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College.
Having been wounded twice, he was killed on 25 September 1915, “somewhere in Flanders”.
He is commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Panel 50 to 52. and on a plaque mounted on the inside of Llanspyddid church in the Brecon Beacons.
Probate was granted to his father. He left £160-1s-1d.
