Reginald Francis was the twin son of Lt-Col Francis Longueville, DSO, MC by his wife Gertrude Beatrice Venables. He had an older sister, a twin sister, Olive Mary who died in 2009, and a younger brother. The twins were born in 1922 in Oswestry where their maternal grandparents lived.

He Matriculated in 1942.

The Longueville family had long connections with the Coldstream Guards and it was with that Regiment Reginald was serving with the rank of Lieutenant when he was killed on 10 October 1944. He was Mentioned in Despatches.

He is buried at Overloon War Cemetery Plot III. E. 8.

He is commemorated on the Coldstream Guards Roll of Honour and at St Mary’s Church, Forthampton in Gloucestershire where his parents lived.

A wooden panel in the church porch states:
