Geoffrey Richard was born at Summergangs, Pinjarra, Western Australia to Raymond Gee and his wife Annie Matilda Alderson.
Raymond Gee was a graduate of Brasenose College. Sometime prior to 1888, he had emigrated to Western Australia and was headmaster of Hales School in Perth for the year 1888-89. At the time of Geoffrey’s birth, he was a magistrate and the Registrar in Bunbury.
Geoffrey is found in the 1911 census living at 6 Longridge Road, Earl’s Court with his father’s sister Mary Mabel and her husband Dr Bernard Ley, a physician.
In 1915, he played in the Westminster School Cricket XI. It is assumed he gained a place at Christ Church which he did not take up.
He joined the 3rd Battalion The Royal Sussex Regiment and was seconded to the Royal Flying Corps.
He was killed on 4 June 1917. His name is on the Arras Flying Service Memorial in the Faubourg d’Amiens Cemetery.
Probate was granted to his aunt, Mabel Mary Ley on 27 June 1918. His address is given as 153 Cromwell Road and his Effects totalled £224-10s-4d.
