Reginald George was born at Ashurst Park, Tunbridge Wells, the second son of George Hanbury Field, a banker, and his wife, Hon Emily Hardinge daughter of 2nd Viscount Hardinge of Lahore. His father died in 1901.
Reginald was educated at Eton. He commenced Service on 28 September 1914, and was posted to France on 17 February 1917.
He is commemorated on the Lychgate at St Martin’s Church, Ashurst, Kent, and on the Fordcombe War Memorial opposite St Peter’s Church, known as the ‘Hardinge family church’, the family having been generous benefactors, and some two dozen family members are buried in the churchyard.
When Reginald’s mother submitted an application for his medals, she was living at “Ballards,” Goudhurst, Kent. They came up for sale at Lawrence’s Fine Art Sale on 8 April 2010:

Plaque named Reginald George Field with suspension mount clipped to reverse. Scroll and Kings letter also mounted in a frame. 2 Lieut Reginald George Field 10th Hussars Died of Wounds on the 6th April 1918. Aged 22 years old. Son of George Hanbury Field and the Hon. Mrs E M Field of Ashurst Park, Tunbridge Wells. Kent. (Now a Care Centre adjacent to the BUPA Hospital at Tunbridge Wells. 2 Lieutenant Field served in France & Flanders from 17/02/1917, he is buried in St Sever. Cemetery. Rouen. (Base Hospitals were stationed there throughout the Gt War)
