Arnold Bexley was the fourth child of Robert Arnold Vansittart JP ‘living on his own means‘, and his wife Alice. He was baptised on 26 October 1889 at Paddington St James, Middlesex.
In 1901 he was a boarder at Stone House College, St Peter Intra in Kent. He Matriculated from Christ Church in 1907.
He commenced Service on 15 August 1914 as 2nd Lieutenant Household Cavalry and Cavalry of the Line (including Yeomanry and Imperial Camel Corps) 11th (Prince Albert’s Own) Hussars, and served in France and Belgium. He died of wounds received in action.
At Windsor Holy Trinity Parish & Garrison Church the Chancel screen was put up to the memory of those of the Household Cavalry who fell in the Great War. It was unveiled by Lieut. Colonel Tweedmouth, C.M.G., on 6 October 1921. The names of all those of the Household Cavalry, Household Battalion and Brigade of Guards who fell in the Great War are recorded in three books, which are placed close to the memorials.
