Arthur Nesbit was born in Streatham, the son of Henry Edward and Rachel Edmondson Charlton of 3 Pinfold Road, Streatham. In 1911, his father was the Assistant Controller of the Post Office Savings Bank.

Arthur was educated at Westminster School, where he played cricket for 1st XI from 1912-1914. His Service began in August 1914. In 1916 he was mentioned in Dispatches. On 4 June 1917 he was awarded the Military Cross, and was killed in action at Cambrai.

He is remembered on Panel 4 of the Cambrai Memorial at Louveral.
