The Cathedral Chapter warmly invites parishes in the Diocese to visit the Cathedral, to share in its worship and discover its history.
The usual programme for the day is as follows:
- 3pm Arrive at Christ Church (Tom Gate entrance)
- 3:15pm Guided Tour of the Cathedral & Chapter House
- 4.30pm Afternoon tea in the Great Hall
- 5:15pm A talk, or a tour of the gardens
- 6pm Choral Evensong
- 7pm End of visit
There will be a charge for the tea but not for the guided tour. Tea is provided in the Great Hall. You can choose from the menus below (please choose one menu for the whole group), and indicate your choice when you are asked for final numbers two weeks prior to your visit:
Queen’s Tea: Cake Selection [2 per person from a selection of 3] and Tea with Milk or Lemon and Filter Coffee £4.60 + VAT per person
Cornish Tea: Scones with Strawberry Jam and Clotted Cream [4 halves per person] and Tea with Milk or Lemon and Filter Coffee £6.50 + VAT per person
King’s Tea: Assorted Sandwiches [1 round per person]; Cake selection [1 per person from a selection of 2] and Tea with Milk or Lemon and Filter Coffee £10.75 + VAT per person
Between afternoon tea and Choral Evensong there is the option of a talk given by a member of Cathedral staff or a Cathedral volunteer, or a tour of the Christ Church Gardens (weather dependent). Available options will be sent to you nearer the time of your visit.

Numbers: Minimum number per group: 10 / Maximum number per group: 30.
Accessibility: Although the Cathedral and the Great Hall are wheelchair accessible, access to the Chapter House is currently unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Terms & Conditions: Final numbers and dietary and mobility requirements should be sent to Miranda Hockliffe two weeks prior to the visit. You will be invoiced for the final number given on this date, and the invoice will be sent to the parish organiser for the teas following the visit.
