Pilgrim Cello: Kenneth Wilson
All 42 English cathedrals. With a cello. On a bike.
Author and cellist Kenneth Wilson's extraordinary Pilgrim Cello journey makes its 31st stop at Christ Church on Sunday 22nd June, immediately following our service of Choral Evensong.
Kenneth and his cello are travelling to every English Anglican cathedral with the aid of a specially-adapted bike to perform the Seven Last Words Meditation, a powerful reflection on the dying words of Christ formed from poetry and the slow movements of JS Bach's Cello Suites.
His performance also incorporates seven abstract paintings by the Birmingham-based artist Gillian Lever, carried by Kenneth around the country on his pilgrimage in a specially designed reliquary. The art works will be exhibited as an integral part of the experience of the Meditation.
Join us after evensong (approximately 7.10 pm) for this moving combination of words, music, art, and the tranquility of our medieval Chapterhouse. Admission is free, and no booking is required.
