Revd Charlie Kerr appointed Priest Vicar for Pilgrimage and Education
We are delighted to announce the appointment of the Revd Charlie Kerr as Priest Vicar at Christ Church Cathedral.
Charlie is no stranger to Christ Church, having ministered in the Oxford Diocese since 2007. Charlie grew up in Canterbury where he was a chorister at the Cathedral. He read Theology and Religious Studies at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge and, after working as a teacher, trained for ordination at Ripon College, Cuddesdon. After a curacy at St Peter Mancroft in Norwich, he served as Chaplain at Glenalmond College in Perthshire and at St Edward’s School in Oxford. Since 2018 he has been Chaplaincy Advisory to the Oxford Diocesan Board of Education – a role in which he has been responsible for setting up and supporting chaplaincy across the church schools of the Oxford Diocese. In this capacity he has been a frequent visitor to Christ Church as part of the team planning and delivering worship and events for local church schools.
Charlie will hold the responsibility for pilgrimage and education within the Cathedral, as well as sharing with other clergy in its liturgical and pastoral ministry. He will start work with us on 1 September and will be installed and licensed at Choral Evensong on Saturday 13 September.
The Dean of Christ Church, the Very Revd Professor Sarah Foot, said: "Charlie brings to this post significant experience in education and in around pilgrimage and education. We are delighted that he will be joining our clergy team at the Cathedral, and look forward to his ministry among us."
