Qualifications

MA Philosophy, Politics and Economics (Oxford)

Background and role

I am a graduate of Christ Church and a founding Partner of institutional asset manager Oxford Investment Partners, which was bought by Towers Watson in 2013.

I have held several positions at Morgan Grenfell/Deutsche Asset Management between 1992 and 2004, including Chief Investment Officer for London, Australia, Europe and the Asia Pacific. Since 2006 I have developed my non-executive director career, focusing on investment management and the investment trust sector in particular. Between 2010 and 2015 I was a Non-Executive Director of Friends Life Group plc where I served as Chairman of the Investment Oversight Committee. I was then Chairman of JPMorgan Income & Growth Investment Trust plc until November 2016.

I have been an external member of the Christ Church Governing Body since 2007. I am a member of the Finance Committee and chair the Investment Group (IG). The IG is a sub-committee of the Christ Church Finance Committee, with the remit of shaping the endowment: it determines the asset allocation ranges, recommends specific investments and divestments for the endowment, and maintains due diligence of our external managers. The IG is currently made up of a combination of Old Members with investment management experience across all the asset classes, and members of the Christ Church Governing Body.

Outside Christ Church, I serve on the board of Jupiter Fund Management plc and Howard de Walden Estates, and chair Clipstone Industrial REIT plc and Monks Investment Trust.
