Responsible Ownership Policy for Property

Christ Church is in the process of drafting a Responsible Ownership Policy for Property  as we have already done for our other investments. As long-term investors we have a particular interest in addressing our environmental and social responsibilities. We recognise that property ownership and development can have a very obvious and long-lasting impact on local communities, including our own in Oxford and surrounding areas. We are also conscious of the risks of climate change and the contribution we can make towards achieving the United Kingdom’s carbon objectives.

The Policy is likely to include 7 Principles:

  1. Connectivity
  2. Identity
  3. Community
  4. Ecology
  5. Energy
  6. Carbon
  7. Health and Wellbeing

A draft framework has been completed, and is due to be considered by our Investment Group, and then Finance Committee, to take into account the practical implications and the financial effects and ensure that we have an approach, which we can implement efficiently. The recommended policy would then be ratified by Governing Body.
