The Parental Confidence Index Roundtable
Babyzone is hosting a half-day roundtable to present and assess the early findings from the Parental Confidence Index (PCI), a new measure of practical, everyday parenting confidence being co-developed in partnership with the University of Oxford. The event builds on the connections formed at last year's Early Years Innovation Hackathon at Oxford Edge and is intended to move from ideas into concrete collaboration.
The PCI tracks confidence across four domains: understanding your child's cues and development, health and everyday learning, managing routines and stress, and seeking help. It is being piloted across Babyzone's network of free, open-access community hubs in some of the most deprived areas in England, Wales, and Scotland. This is an opportunity to share what we are learning and to hear from others working on related questions in the early years space.
The roundtable will bring together academic researchers, early years practitioners, policymakers, and measurement specialists to examine the PCI's methodology, discuss the emerging findings, and explore where different projects and datasets could complement one another. Participants are also welcome to present their own work for discussion.
The event is co-convened with Dr Alexandra Hendry (NIHR and Castang Foundation Advanced Fellow, Associate Professor, Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford).
