Building Responsible AI for Social Good Hackathon

Join us 31 October to 1 November at Oxford Edge for a 2-day hackathon exploring how AI can be used to create fairer opportunities, more transparent technologies, and the future of learning.

Hosted by GirlsWhoML, Oxford Edge, and the Oxford Women in Computer Science Society, the event brings together women and allies from academia and industry to collaborate, learn, and build AI for social good. With expert mentors, hands-on workshops, and team challenges, participants will work in teams to design innovative AI solutions that make a positive impact.

Over the hackathon, you will work in teams to find innovative solutions across three tracks:

1) GenAI for Careers – Fairer Futures

Too many young people face barriers in accessing meaningful work, from biased hiring systems to a lack of clear career guidance. How might we use AI to create fairer opportunities and guide young people into meaningful work?

2) Explainable AI for Non-Tech Users

AI models are often “black boxes,” making it hard for non-technical users to trust or act on their outputs. How might we design interfaces that help women entrepreneurs and educators understand and interact with ML predictions?

3) GenAI for Education

While AI has the potential to transform learning, most tools are not yet designed to support creativity, personalisation, or equitable access. How might we use generative AI to shape the future of education?
