Oxford Edge, Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Christ Church Access are delighted to announce a poster competition on the theme of ‘Disrupt It! Reimagining Industries through Technology and Innovation’.

Competition aims

Through this competition we aim to encourage reflection, creativity, and bold thinking about the industries that shape our everyday lives. We want you to look at how things are done now, ask why they have to be that way, and imagine how technology and fresh ideas could change them for the better.

As well as potentially coming up with an idea for a new venture you would be adding strength to future university applications by exploring an area of interest outside of school, developing your own thoughts on a chosen topic, and communicating these to an expert audience.

What does the competition involve?

Choose any industry that interests you, such as fashion, travel, education, finance, healthcare, food, sport, music, or something else entirely, and reimagine how it could be transformed for the better. Your idea might make an industry fairer, more sustainable, more accessible, or simply work better for the people who rely on it.

Guidance on producing posters

Your entry should be a single one-page poster (PDF file) that tells the story of your idea at a glance. It should clearly introduce the industry you have chosen and explain what currently isn't working or could be improved. It should then set out your idea for disrupting it, showing how technology and fresh thinking would make a difference and who would benefit. A clear narrative that moves from problem to solution works best.

You can design your poster digitally, using any software you're comfortable with (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, or Google Slides). It must fit on a single page and be submitted as a PDF file. You are encouraged to use visuals such as diagrams, charts, or mock-ups to bring your idea to life, and to keep text concise and easy to read. The suggested word count is 500-800 words. Please make sure any images, facts, or statistics you use are credited with their sources.

Finalists

Shortlisted finalists and one supporter will be invited to attend a celebration day at the Oxford Edge and Christ Church on Wednesday 10 March 2027.

On the day, each finalist will give a 2-minute presentation to a panel of judges, talking through their poster, explaining the thinking behind their idea, and answering questions. This is a great opportunity to practise presenting to an expert audience and to receive feedback on your ideas. Finalists will also have the chance to learn more about entrepreneurship and undergraduate study at Oxford, and to meet current students.

The provisional timetable for the day is:
