Chris Breward celebrates Knowledge Exchange Award
The UK Knowledge Exchange Hub for Mathematical Sciences (KE Hub), led by Christ Church’s Professor Chris Breward as Scientific Director, has been named ‘Knowledge Exchange (KE) Team of the Year 2025’ at this year’s prestigious national KE Awards, held on Thursday 27 November at The Lowry, Salford.
Organised by Knowledge Exchange UK, the annual awards celebrate excellence across the knowledge exchange community, recognising impactful partnerships and collaborations that bridge academia, business, and wider society. The KE Team of the Year category honours groups whose collective, multi-disciplinary approach achieves outcomes that would not be possible through individual efforts alone.
The KE Hub is a UK-wide initiative that connects business, industry, government, and the charitable sector with academic mathematical scientists to accelerate knowledge exchange and deliver impact from the mathematical sciences.
The KE Hub has rapidly become the front door for business, industry, government, and charity to access academic mathematical sciences talent across the UK.

The KE Hub was recognised for its ambitious national mission to bring together the UK’s entire academic mathematical sciences community and strengthen its connections with business, industry, government, and charitable partners. By coordinating opportunities, offering practical support and facilitating collaborations, it ensures that mathematical insight can benefit organisations of all sizes and sectors.
Professor Chris Breward, Lecturer in Mathematics at Christ Church and Scientific Director of the KE Hub, celebrated the achievement: ‘I’m humbled and incredibly proud that we’ve received the KEUK Award for KE Team of the Year 2025. The KE Hub has rapidly become the front door for business, industry, government, and charity to access academic mathematical sciences talent across the UK.
‘Our team is remarkable – from the core staff through to our networks of KE Champions, KE professionals, and BIG partners – and this award recognises the contributions of everyone involved. Our success is truly a shared success.’
Professor Chris Breward is a Lecturer in Mathematics at Christ Church whose research focuses on explaining phenomena arising in applied science, industry and medicine.
