Giving Day 2025: celebrating 500 years of scholarship

Giving Day 2025 is now underway, bringing together the entire Christ Church community in celebration of our 500th Anniversary year. Over the next day and a half, alumni, students, staff and friends will unite to reflect on what Christ Church means to them – and to give back in support of its future.

Taking place on 11–12 November, this year’s Giving Day offers a chance to celebrate the shared pride and connection that come with being part of Christ Church. It is also an opportunity to make a tangible difference by supporting four key funds that will shape the experience of future generations of scholars.

  • The Academic Skills Programme – fostering a lifelong love of learning by helping students to develop study practices that underpin academic success.
  • Student Support at Oxford Edge – empowering the next generation of entrepreneurial talent through the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, which combines academic insight with real-world venture-building.
  • Access & Outreach – ensuring that Christ Church continues to welcome academic excellence from all backgrounds and remains a home for the brightest and most ambitious students.
  • The John Cartwright Fund for Law – honouring the contribution of Emeritus Professor John Cartwright (Tutor in Law 1982–2018) by supporting scholarships for graduate legal study, with lasting national and international impact.

Celebrations are taking place across College throughout Giving Day. Students and staff will come together for a Giving Day Formal on 11 November, ChChRFC are taking on the ChChNetball team in a spirited netball match, and the Boat Club will row, run, erg and cycle a combined 2,025km over the course of the week.

We invite all alumni and friends to join the celebrations, follow our progress online, and make a gift in support of this milestone year at chchgivingday.hubbub.net.
