Christ Church and Kellogg have much to offer as colleges, while Christ Church Boat Club is one of the best clubs to row for in the university.

Christ Church Boat Club

The Boat Club is a great place for experienced rowers and coxes to continue their development in the sport.

We recognise that the most experienced athletes will want to trial for OUBC straight away, and are particularly supportive of this, backing you through to the Boat Race and then welcoming you back afterwards for the April training camp and the Summer Eights campaign. Both Christ Church and Kellogg offer financial support for those involved in sport at the university level. Moreover, we have many alumni who have trodden this path before who can offer advice if needed.

We are also geared up to support those who might need a year or so to get their rowing to a high enough standard to trial. The coaching and training programme at the club are capable to driving your technique and physiology to the necessary level.

Equally, there will be those who are looking only to row at college level, and we will look to get you straight into our senior boats, forming the nucleus of these crews.

Either way, we feel that the Boat Club is set up to help you enjoy and improve your rowing.

Facilities and on-land equipment

The Boat Club is blessed with a large and varied range of training equipment spread over several venues.  It must be one of the best-equipped clubs in the university, and we are constantly seeking to upgrade and update in this area.

Boats and on-water equipment

We are the only college boat club with its own boathouse, which means we have racking space for a large boat fleet. All the club’s higher crews train and race in top-line racing shells.

Training camp

The club intends to take the men’s and women’s 1st and 2nd VIIIs abroad on training camp every year in April.  The details are still being worked through but this will be highly subsidised by the club to make it affordable for the students.

Club record

The club has one of the most illustrious histories of any of the Oxford college rowing clubs.
