Location

Christ Church, established by Henry VIII in 1546 is one of Oxford’s largest colleges. Located in the heart of the city it’s conveniently close to museums, shops and restaurants. Check-in at the Porters’ Lodge, located at the main entrance, off Tom Gate. The lodge reception is staffed 24-hours a day. For arrivals after 7.30pm, Tom Gate will be closed so please use the bell on the left-hand side to alert the porter in order to gain access. 

Christ Church can only accommodate adults (aged 18 and over). This includes babies/children sharing a room with adults. If such a booking is made you will be asked to cancel it, and the refund amount will be in line with T&Cs, or if you arrive at the property you will be refused entry and no refund will be given. We do not permit guests to bring in visitors to the College.

Food and Drink

A cooked and continental breakfast is provided in the unique setting of the Great Hall, with its stunning hammer-beam roof and wonderful oil paintings. Breakfast is self-select, but if you have any queries due to an allergy or intolerance, please speak to a member of staff.

Breakfast is generally served between 08:00 and 09:00. However, depending on the time of year or the day of the week, it may be available from as early as 07:30 and, on occasion, extended until 09:30. For exact breakfast timings during your stay, please check with the Lodge.

Oxford has many places to dine, whether for lunch, dinner, or food on the go. For local suggestions, please see the information provided in the ‘Guest Information’ booklet in your room.

Grounds and gardens

The Masters' Garden is open during daylight hours, a lovely place to walk or sit and enjoy the view. Christ Church is unique amongst the Oxford Colleges for its wonderful Meadow which is full of wildlife and is home to Christ Church's own long-horn cattle. There is a beautiful tree-lined walk down to the river Isis.   • Meadow Building

    Meadows building, twin en-suite room

    The magnificent 19th Century Meadow Building has light and airy bedrooms. The majority of double and twin rooms face onto The Meadow and our new Visitor Centre, with single ensuite facing inwards toward the Quad.

  • Old Library

    Old Library example room

    The mid-16th Century Old Library Building is newly refurbished and has comfortable and light bedrooms which benefit from an ensuite shower. All rooms face inwards toward the Quad.

  • Peckwater Quad

    Peckwater Quad example room

    Grade I listed Peckwater Quad boasts 18th Century Architecture with modern but classical bedrooms.

  • Canterbury Quad

    Canterbury Quad example room

    The beautiful eighteenth-century Canterbury Building is newly refurbished and offers comfortable bedrooms. The majority of rooms faces inwards toward the Quad and some onto Oriel Square. Please note Canterbury rooms are all up or down several flights of stairs.

  • Blue Boar Quad

    Blue Boar Quad example room

    Designed by Hidalgo Moya and Philip Powell in the 1960s, this modern block offers comfortable bedrooms with compact ensuite facilities.

  • Tom Quad

    Hidden away on the third floor, bedrooms are quiet and large. However, due to the high floor, nature of the building and position of the window, views are restricted.

  • St Aldate's Quad
