Our state-of-the-art multimedia guides are included in the price of admission and are required to visit Christ Church. 

Members of the team will be on hand to answer your questions around the site.

The multimedia guide acts as your pass to the Christ Church site, and must be worn around your neck at all times for security purposes.

You can also visit Christ Church by attending a guided tour or one of our events

Children under 5 may visit free of charge with a paying adult (18+).  The multimedia guide is not included in the child ticket. Tickets for children under 5 can be obtained on the day of your visit upon arrival at the Visitor Centre. We recommend everyone else purchases their ticket in advance to guarantee entry.

Carer ticket: we are pleased to offer free entry to carers assisting disabled visitors during their visit. One carer ticket can be requested at the till for each disabled visitor purchasing a multimedia guide ticket. The normal admission fee applies to the disabled visitor and we recommend they book in advance to guarantee entry. Please note that as children aged 4 and under receive free entry, a carer ticket will not be added in this instance. A multimedia guide is not included in the carer's ticket. If you require more than one carer ticket or only need to purchase a child ticket please email us at tourism@chch.ox.ac.uk.

How to book your tickets

Tickets are released around 10am each Friday for the following week. 

For example, on Friday 5 July tickets will be released for the week of Monday 8 July.

  • Book tickets in advance to guarantee entry and save money.  
  • Tickets may be available to buy on the day online or in the Visitor Centre but we strongly recommend booking tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • Known closures of the Hall or Cathedral will be clearly indicated against the relevant time slots on the booking system.  
  • Tickets are non-refundable but online ticket holders with accounts can reschedule their tickets online for free up to two hours before their visit.
  • If you have not created an account, you can alter the date of your ticket(s) for a £2 administration fee per ticket. To do this, please have the booking holder contact our Visitor Services Team  with the booking reference number and the date/time you would like to change it to. Please note that all date changes are subject to availability and must be made before the date of your visit. The administration fee will need to be paid upon arrival as we do not store any payment information on our booking system.

What can I see during my multimedia tour?

Your ticket includes access to the main Christ Church site, with the opportunity to see parts of one of the largest colleges of the University of Oxford, and Oxford's Cathedral.

The Picture Gallery is not included in your multimedia guide ticket but a separate ticket can be booked online, in the Visitor Centre or at the Picture Gallery entrance for a small addition charge. 

Please note that Christ Church is a working institution, and some areas may be closed at the time of your visit.

Closures of the Hall or Cathedral will be clearly indicated against the relevant time slots on the booking system. Please select your time slot carefully.

The multimedia guide will have been cleaned before collection but wipes will also be available if you wish to clean the device yourself before use. Headphones are available and will also have followed the same cleaning process. However, we recommend bringing your own wired headphones (standard jack) to use with the multimedia guide.

We will collect your multimedia guide from you at the end of your visit for cleaning.
