Ever wondered what ‘History of Art’ is? Are you interested in history, and do you enjoy looking at images? Year 12 students from UK state schools are invited to join us at Christ Church to explore what it means to be an Art Historian.

The day will include a variety of practical and academic sessions that will introduce you to the discipline of History of Art. You will get the opportunity to meet current students and explore Christ Church, including our Picture Gallery.

The taster day will take place on Wednesday 18 February 2026, from 10am to 4pm.

We welcome applications from any state school student currently studying in Year 12 or equivalent who has an interest in the subject and would like to find out more.

  • Discover what it means to be an Art Historian
  • Explore Oxford and Christ Church
  • Participate in practical and academic sessions
  • Learn about student life at Oxford and the admissions process

The event will be free of charge and lunch will be provided. We would not want the cost of travelling to Oxford to prevent students from participating and are able to offer support with travel costs by public transport (e.g. buses and trains) to UK students who have been in care, are young carers, have been eligible for free school meals, or who would otherwise be unable to attend.
