Christ Church graduate co-founds startup backed by OpenAI

A recent graduate of Christ Church is among the founders of a new artificial intelligence startup attracting international attention, including from The Wall Street Journal.

Henry Gasztowtt, who matriculated at Christ Church in 2021 and graduated in 2025 with a BA in Mathematics and Computer Science, is co-founder of Isara, a San Francisco-based company backed by OpenAI.

As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Isara is developing software that enables large numbers of AI ‘agents’ to work together collaboratively to solve complex problems in fields such as finance and biotechnology. The company has already demonstrated early versions of its technology coordinating around 2,000 AI agents to analyse and predict market trends.

Founded in 2025 by Gasztowtt and fellow researcher Eddie Zhang, Isara has rapidly gained attention in the technology sector, raising significant investment and achieving a substantial valuation within a short period. Their work builds on research into how networks of AI systems can cooperate to tackle complex decision-making challenges.

The company’s approach reflects a broader shift in artificial intelligence, moving from single systems operating independently towards coordinated networks of specialised agents working in tandem – an emerging field often described as ‘multi-agent AI’.

Gasztowtt’s role in founding Isara highlights the contribution of Christ Church graduates to cutting-edge developments in artificial intelligence, and underlines the growing importance of interdisciplinary study in mathematics and computer science for the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
